No-Processed-foodI have been a painful subscriber to the natural food camp for many years. I still subscribe to eating healthy fresh food. (note, I left out natural) When I discovered the reality of our food, it changed everything I believed. So if you are not ready to have your reality turned upside down, don’t read this article. Another thing before I get stuck in, please read this to the end to understand the point I am going to make.

For the longest time, I held the view that we should eat Broccoli, Kale, Cauliflower, Cabbage and Brussel sprouts because these are super healthy foods. Here is an excerpt from Medical News to show you it’s not just me that says so:

“Brussels sprouts are a part of the cruciferous vegetable family, which also includes the nutritional powerhouses kale, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and collard greens, all of which supply loads of nutrients for a small amount calories. If you are trying to improve your diet, cruciferous vegetables should be at the very top of your grocery list.”

Before I get further into that topic, I want to point out another thing that is pushed quite strongly in the alternative treatment, and anti-produced food groups. Now please remember I was myself, quite a strong believer and considered myself a natural food prophet. Here is what you will hear all over the internet, “Clean Eating”, “Natural Food Diet”, “The Paleo Diet – The Paleo Diet is an effort to eat like we used to eat back in the day…WAY back in the day. If a caveman couldn’t eat it, neither can you.”, “Back to Nature Diet” and the catchphrases goes on and on.

Now I am not against eating good healthy veggies, and fruits. As a matter of fact, I’m all for it. Very much so. However, I used to chime in with the internet crowds that everything that is man-made is evil and should be avoided like the plague. I searched out every article and paper I thought was scientific, to back up this claims. Natural – Like nature intended.

How foolish we are. Quick to jump on the bandwagons, quick to shout conspiracy theories, quick to boycott everything that is man-made. One of My favourite sayings was, “If it doesn’t look like food, don’t eat it,” Oh and “If it has a label with ingredients, stay away.” Again I say, how foolish.

In this modern world, we cannot eat what the caveman ate, because what we know as food, did not exist in the caveman’s diet. All the foods we have to eat, are modern foods, all bred and manipulated by man. This is the kicker, there is no more natural food like nature made it. There is now natural food like man made it. We could not create it, but we most definitely manipulated it.

You think the food at the grocer comes from the farm and is “natural” Have a look at this first.

The original broccoli, cabbage and kale plantSee this. All our green superfoods do not exist in nature. These were all bred from the wild mustard plant. Therefore cavemen could not eat broccoli, cauliflower, kale, brussels sprouts, and cabbage, it did not exist in nature, it was manipulated by a man about 2000 years ago. So now what about the GMO hating. This type of breeding necessitates a change in genetics, whether we like it or not.






Oh, I wish this was all there was to it:

The original CarrotAlright, I know the carrot is probably old news. but let’s be honest, which one of us would have gone for the little shrivel of a white thing unless we really had to. Orange and juicy just looks better and healthier right.


Corn on the cob. Who does not love a nice corn on the cob with a bit of butter? It is delicious and now it is almost illegal because it is claimed to be genetically modified recently. Nope, estimates are 6 – 7000 years ago. They were not stupid back then, They knew even back then how to manipulate plants. Those damn cavemen.





The potassium wonder of the modern world. The pre-workout loadout. How would you feel if someone came to you and gave you the little green number as a pre-workout snack? TASTY ——-NOT.

It’s Modified!

I wish I could say this was it. These were the only things that were manipulated. But not so. There is a long list of other things that are not the same as what our caveman ancestors had available to eat.

  • Potatoes
  • Legumes
  • Soy
  • Wheatgrass
  • Wheat
  • Rice
  • Oats
  • Cashews
  • Ginseng
  • DonQuay
  • Chamomile
  • Garlic
  • Goldenseal
  • Echinacea
  • Chickens
  • Cattle
  • Pork

And this list can go on. I think for now it is clear to see that what we thought or were convinced was natural, is, in fact, man-made. There is a slight distinction between Genetically modified and modified with breeding. The one is faster than the other. For a plant to change its structure it has to change its original genetic material. So in essence all, or shall I say most of our modern food, is genetically altered from its natural state.

Here is the kicker though. If we are to believe that the food revolution was only bad and everything that man has done to food is leading to the ill health and death of the populations, then we have to place 80% of all the food we eat today in that same group. We will be left with pretty much nothing to eat.

Consider that the super greens like cabbage, kale, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, are all seen as superfoods, it is safe to say that what humans have done to the original plant is enhance its nutritive ability. Furthermore, these enhancements to the food, allowed us to expand our populations’ numbers dramatically. We would never have been able to sustain the world population using only the true natural foods. These modified foods have saved lives, saved people from starvation and malnutrition, and brought health to many people that turned to them as a staple diet.

If we really want to for back to what the cavemen ate for vegetables, we are going to look at very unappetising food. We have to face the truth, we cannot eat that way anymore because we do not have that food available to us. We have to look at what is available to us and make really informed and common sense decisions. This is what we cover in our other section in this website.
